Assoc.Prof. Onur TASAR, MD

Cardiologist
Interventional Cardiologist

Associate Professor, who studied medicine at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Onur Taşar started his cardiology career at Koşuyolu Heart Training and Research Hospital.

After working as an assistant at this center for 5 years, he qualified as a specialist and continued to work as a specialist cardiologist at the same center for a while. During this period, he performed the first intracoronary “Optical Coherence Tomography (IV-OCT)” applications and related scientific studies in our country.

Later, he worked as a cardiologist in charge of the angiography laboratory at the University of Health Sciences Elazığ Training and Research Hospital, where he was appointed, and then as an associate professor at the Elazığ City Hospital Cardiology Clinic within the same university.

Later, he was simultaneously appointed as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Health Sciences and as the clinical chief of the Cardiology Clinic of Istanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Training and Research Hospital. He established the interventional cardiology department at the same center and initiated angiography, coronary balloon, stent and transcatheter valve interventions. During this period, he gave cardiology lessons to 5th grade students at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Health Sciences.

He was successful in the theoretical proficiency exam of the European Association of Interventional Cardiology, which he took in December 2023, and then, as a result of the examination of the interventional operations he performed in the last 2 years, he was entitled to receive the “Full of EAPCI Board Certified” diploma, which is the Competency Accreditation of the European Association of Interventional Cardiology.

As a result of his scientific and educational activities in the international arena, he was elected as a “Full Member” to the Training and Accreditation Committee of the European Association of Interventional Cardiology in October 2024.
